I got the music in me....
For as long as I can remember, I have always sung. I come from a long line of people who tend to gravitate toward anyone who plays an instrument, can sing a song, can get the crowd going, or just remember the lyrics for that matter. Seeing as my roots are French-Canadian, many were the occasion to play music or sing together and large were the crowds (my grandmother alone had 16 kids...I know...she spent her entire life pregnant). I had an older uncle who played harmonica (only a chosen few know how truly impressive that really is...) and another who sang traditional french songs that had the whole crowd chanting along (this may have been the same uncle). This was our way, you get together and those who sang, sang. Those who played cards, listened. I can recall at a relative's funeral, how appalled a newcomer who had just married into the family was at our strumming. It was our way of showing what family meant to us. Music truly was one of life's gifts, and we knew that.
